Quality Childcare and Education
At all of our nurseries we ensure that families are offered the highest quality of care and education for their children and we have a dedicated team of practitioners who are qualified, fully experienced and highly committed to providing play and learning opportunities for all the children in our care. A friendly atmosphere is created within our nurseries, based on warm and caring relationships between our staff and the children, and positive social interactions are encouraged throughout the nursery day.
Our teams are dedicated in providing a happy, friendly and safe environment for each child in order to help them thrive as individuals, and we endeavour to work in partnership with parents by establishing good relationships and by having a good key person system in place.
A Safe, Stimulating Environment
All of our nurseries are purpose built and designed to suit the needs of babies and young children, with large, bright airy rooms, an array of stimulating play equipment, a variety of age appropriate toys, and lots of space to move around.
Our nurseries also have easy access for wheelchair users , and they all feature security systems throughout, so you can be confident that the children are safe when in our care.
We also have robust risk assessments in place, following government guidelines to make the environment as safe as possible for children and their families during the pandemic
Information will be shared by room staff.
Outdoor Play Opportunities
All of our nurseries have an open door policy so that children can benefit from both the indoor and outdoor learning environment. We provide rich, varied outdoor learning opportunities which supports children's learning and development.
We believe that being outdoors has a positive impact on children and offers opportunities for doing things on a larger scale. It gives children first hand contact with the weather and with nature and it offers them freedom to explore. We also have attractive garden areas for the children to enjoy.
Our Key Person Approach
It is very important that children get the opportunity to form strong attachments with key staff from the very beginning so that they can settle well, and feel happy and content. Through our key person approach our staff team get to know the children well by forming good relationships. They observe children’s progress, and they plan activities to suit children’s interests and learning needs. Our key person approach allows staff to support children throughout the early years whilst building solid foundations for future learning.
The Early Years
Foundation Stage Curriculum
At Sunshine Day Nursery, we believe that learning should be stimulating for young children, so play times are educational as well as fun. At nursery, your child's day will consist of a range of well-structured adult led activities combined with lots of opportunities for child initiated play.
Following the ethos of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) we are able to observe the children as they play and learn. We provide children with exciting opportunities to extend their learning helping them to make progress in all areas of development.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is how the government and early year’s professionals describe the time in your child’s life between birth and the age 5 years.
This is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes. From when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years’ experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure and it should support their development, and their care and learning needs.
By using a range of developmentally appropriate resources and real experiences we are able to offer the children lots of challenges that are appropriate to their stage of development
